Safaricom has unveiled standing orders on it Mpesa App in an effort to boost user experience and streamline financial transactions. This will allow customers to automate transactions periodically. Safaricom customers will experience convenience and efficiency from this new feature. Customers can opt into the standing order feature from Safaricom’s M-subscriptions mini-app, accept terms and conditions and enter their Mpesa Pin to confirm.

Once opted in, Safaricom customers can now choose from a range of recurring transactions eg bill payments, money transfers and purchases. The customers can then choose the recipient's name, amount and frequency of the transaction. Automated transactions will deduct funds from the user's account and credit to the recipient's account at the specified time. This is a cool feature when you have many bills to settle which have deadlines/penalties for late payment. For instance, NHIF bills, rent or water bills.
